What is God's Will for my life?

Interestingly, this is a common question. At first one would think there are millions of different answers to it, that there are as many answers as there are people but in reality, there is just one answer. Jesus Christ himself revealed God's answer in the New Testament in the book of John chapter 6, verse 40:

"And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

This will of God for you and me and all of us is that we might have "everlasting life" and this is reflected in the most well known verse of the New Testament, John 3:16, in which Jesus states:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Jesus states the same idea in a different fashion in Matt. 16:26 where He asks the question:

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

The first and foremost will of God is that we would all be saved. Everything else, our success or failure, our poverty or riches, our sickness or good health, even our happiness or grief are all secondary. It is essential that we set the foundation for our life on belief in Jesus Christ and attain the everlasting life that it is God's will to give us. From this one decision all the rest of life's true riches will flow.
